Bijoy and Premila Koshy
After 13 years of service in the Indian Army Bijoy resigned to heed God's call to serve in missions responding to a different drum beat. An outstanding student throughout his academic life, Bijoy joined the prestigious Armed Forces Medical College in Pune and passed out as a doctor to join the Indian Army in 1983. He assumed the leadership of Interserve India as the Executive Secretary in 1996 and has been instrumental in shaping the Indian Missions scenario.
Premi has exemplified servant leadership as very few people can. Her willingness to serve, even to the point of personal discomfort is indeed commendable. A pre-school teacher by profession, her love for pre-schoolers and little children is a special gift from God. Her contribution to Missionary Kid care in India is remarkable in 'Griha Shiksha' (Home Schooling), the first Home Schooling program for missionary kids in India. Premi now serves in an international school in Thailand as an art teacher for the primary students.
Bijoy now serves as the Regional Director for the American and North Pacific region as part of the International Leadership Team of Interserve. Their daughter Anisha has completed her post graduate studies specializing in psychology and is working with children with learning disabilities in Chennai and their son Rohan is studying Mass Media and communications in Pune.
David and Beulah Chandran
David trained as an Electrical Engineer worked for 6 years in the corporate world. He later served in Christian hospitals as a maintenance engineer in Chennai. Beulah, on the other hand graduated in Chemistry, Sociology, Theology and even Journalism! She worked as a staff worker with UESI before marrying David.
David and Beulah were challenged to move to North India as cross cultural professionals. In 1990, David served with St. Stephen’s Hospital in Delhi for a few years before free lancing as a consultant in the corporate world. They founded the Tentmaker Center to challenge Christian professionals for cross cultural ministry with a special focus on the needy North Indian states like Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Orissa and Uttar Pradesh. They regularly published a newsletter providing information about job openings and also a guide for tent makers called “Breaking New Ground”, the first Indian publication on tent making ministry. They mentored and cared for several young professionals who continue to serve in North India.
Beulah also served as the On Track Coordinator for Interserve India. Later David was invited to serve with EFICOR as Director – Operations in Delhi for about 5 years before they both moved to Chennai to take up the challenging role of overseeing the massive Post Tsunami relief and rehabilitation operations of EFICOR. David travelled to many small towns overseeing the constructions of hundreds of homes for the Tsunami victims and completed the project successfully winning appreciation from the local government. Beulah had a satisfying role in teaching and mentoring students in a local Bible college. They are now awaiting placement in suitable location overseas. They have two adult children Sharon who is serving in a mission hospital in North India and Shalom who is in college.
Eappen & Suja:
Eappen grew up in the industrial cities of Bhilai and Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh in Central India and came to know the Lord as his personal Saviour during his student days. He has served as staff coordinator working among college students while in North India and earned a theological degree. He started his tentmaking career as a Mathematics lecturer in a Junior College/School fulfilling his calling to mentor young minds for about nine years and also as honorary mission mobilizer for a mission agency. In the course of time he was challenged to serve the Christian teachers community in India.
Eappen is married to Suja Mary who also is actively involved in the ministry of prayer apart from being a home maker and assists in organizing Bible Studies and Seminars. Suja holds a Masters degree in Mathematics and has completed the CA (Inter) with training. Suja also helps in translating gospel literature from English to Malayalam.
Eappen served as the General Secretary of the Evangelical Teachers Fellowship (ETF), which is a national body of Christian teachers in India. He passionately mobilized, equipped and envisioned hundreds of school and college teachers across the country and abroad. He continues to conduct Teacher Training Seminars and Workshops, Bible Studies, Discipleship Training Camps, Sharpening Your Inter-personal Skills(SYIS) Workshops, Alpha Camps and leadership development modules in different cities. He has been the international E2S coordinator for a short term. He also serves as adjunct professor with DAI(Development Associates International) teaching leadership and management subjects for PG students. He loves to mentor young people and is actively involved in the local Marthoma and Hindi churches discipling new believers and mentoring young leaders. He now serves as one of the Directors of a newly established company - Institute of International Business Relations (IBR), Hyderabad with an aim to provide project driven MBA degree for executives in the corporate orbit.
He and his wife Suja are based in Hyderabad. They have two daughters, Sophia (pursuing her Engineering degree) and Sharon (Class IV).
Iris Paul
Iris Paul grew up as the beloved of her large family with all the comforts of affluence but now is passionate about serving needy tribal groups in remote areas of Orissa. She began her cross cultural medical mission work along with her beloved husband Dr. R.A.C. Paul who had a passion for the Bondo people group, and all the tribal groups in the remote villages of Malkangiri in Orissa. She is blessed with four children. Her older son Remo is the Executive Secretary of Reaching Hand Society and is married to Dr Susan an MD in Pathology. They are blessed with two children and serve as missionaries in Malkangiri.
Her second son Mano is having his own internet security company and his wife Sangeetha is an officer in the Dell Company and they have a son. Her third son David is working as a Visualizer in FCB Ulca company in Bangalore and her daughter Mary, is pursuing her post-graduation Diploma course in Design and photography in SIAD at Chennai. Dr R A C Paul went to be with the Lord in 1986 after battling many illnesses for many years. Iris naturally inherited the passion for the people of Malkangiri and has persevered in serving the health needs of the tribal and rural populations in the district. She has taken her mobile clinic to remote villages where the government machinery is yet to make a presence and works round the clock there. She has widened her ministry in serving the prisoners in the local areas and has transformed the women prisoners. Her teams of staff consisting of local people, personally trained by her, now serve as primary health care providers and lead literacy classes, health awareness programs and skill development. The local district administration has recognized her services and involved her as a member in many of their government activities including as a member of Lok Adalath or Peoples Court. The government has also recorded a sharp increase in the literacy rate and a significant decline in polio and whooping cough cases in the villages served by her. She is interested in sharing her experiences and teaching to any who invite her.
Reji and Betsy Koshy Daniel
Reji Koshy Daniel is a mechanical engineer by training and has been in leadership roles in Marketing, Technology Management & Operations areas in the Industry. Having pioneered many new technology adaptation projects with development concern, Reji is passionate in the areas of stewardship of technology & resources, mission @ workplace and business as mission. Associated with UESI for over two decades, Reji serves as a resource for topics related to integrate Christian life and mission.
John and Jessie Amalraj
John Amalraj, started his career in the corporate sector as a Personnel Manager for a few years before serving with the India Missions Association (IMA) from the year 1993. He has been trained in Law, Management, HRD and Theology. Besides being a good Bible expositor & writer, he shares his experience and expertise with many Christian organizations in various roles. He coordinated the IMA Leadership training programs for mission leaders, facilitated think tank meetings on mission issues, networked with mission organizations across the country and mentored a team of staff in the mission centre in Hyderabad. He assumed the leadership of Interserve India in January 2006 as Executive Secretary and National Director.
Jessie trained in admin & counseling serves as the Coordinator for the Women's ministerial Training program of Union Biblical Seminary, Pune mentoring the wives of theological students. They are blessed with two sons Jason (16+) and Joash (7+).
They both are passionate to mobilize, envision and equip other Christians to become actively involved in cross cultural missions integrating their professions and transforming individuals and communities. There is a sense of urgency in this call of God. God's purposes for this generation must be accomplished by this generation. This vision has been growing within them right from their childhood. The time has come now to see God fulfilling His purposes through them. .
